Tesla already has a great navigation system in the car that looks kind of like a 17" iPad but the extension of the Apple ecosystem into Tesla seems like a logical step that looks set to make our iOS devices more useful. The Apple iCar could combine a beautiful piece of dashboard hardware (an ergonomic and energy-efficient electric car), the in-car software and dashboard experience (navigation, communications, information and entertainment).
Personalization is a big part of the picture. It’s easy to imagine how the Touch ID fingerprint introduced in the iPhone 5s could be used to gain entry to an iCar, adjust the seating, start the ignition and determine what’s displayed on the dashboard.
